Easy Camping Foods That Will Rock Your Socks!

I don't know about you guys, but when I am hungry, I get hangry! I'm sure that is you don't get hangry, you know someone that does. So I have put together this blog to share a couple of super simple recipes for going camping. These are easy to throw together, and some of the ingredients can be changed in order to best suite your needs. I am going camping this weekend, and I am going to be doing a couple of these, namely the Bread Boats, and Banana S'mores!

Campfire Scramble:

  • 6 cups hash browns thawed
  • 2 cups ham diced
  • 6 whole eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup green onion diced
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup tomato diced

  1. Spray a foil BBQ-safe pan with cooking spray, add in the thawed hashbrowns and ham.
  2. Add eggs to a large bowl with milk and whisk until combined. Stir in the cheese, green onions and tomatoes and pour over the hashbrowns and ham.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Cover with foil and cook on the BBQ {on indirect heat} at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
  5. Uncover the pan and cook for an additional 15-35 minutes, until edges are crispy {when done you'll notice that the hashbrowns are coated with scrambled eggs}.

Bread Boats

  • 4 demi sourdough baguettes (I found them in the bakery section of the grocery store)
  • 1 (7 ounce) package of Pork Sausage Links
  • 8 eggs
  • ½ cup heavy cream or fat free half & half
  • 8 ounces pepper jack cheese, grated
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper, to taste

  1. Precook Sausage over Campfire and cut int bite size pieces.
  2. Mix eggs and Heavy Cream, and cook eggs. Once eggs are done, mix with Sausage Bites, Cheese and Green Onions.
  3. Cut and pull out the middle of all 4 sourdough baguettes, leaving ½ inch of bread in the bottom and on the sides. Add mixed ingredients and wrap in tin foil.
  4. Cook over fire for 10-15 minutes until cheese melts.

Banana S'mores:

  • Bananas
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Extras: Nuts, peanut butter, coconut etc.

  • Open up the banana on one of the seams from about 1 inch from the bottom to 1 inch on the top.
  • Sprinkle in chocolate chips and marshmallows
  • Close tightly and wrap with aluminum foil.
  • Cook over coals (charcoal or logs) or a warm grill. These will cook best on hot coals but not necessarily ones with the flames. Put these on the grill right after you are done cooking or to the side of the flames. You can also put these on the BBQ Grill in your backyard. If you are using a propane grill, put  the flame on low. These should be on the grill for about 5 – 7 minutes. Remove with caution, open and serve!

Orange Cinnamon Buns:

  • Cinnamon Rolls in a pop-tube.
  • Cream Cheese Frosting (Unless your rolls come with some)
  • Oranges (One for each roll)
  • Knife
  • Spoon

1.Slice oranges in half, and scoop our the orange on the inside. Open tube of Rolls and place one in each orange. Try to keep the orange halvs together to make the next steps easier.

  • 2. Place the "top" of hte orange over the bottom half that is filled with the roll. Wrap with in Foil.

3. Cook for about 10-12 minute, flipping about half way through. Remove from heat and add icing.

Lumberjack Breakfast:

  • Sausages or Canadian bacon
  • Frozen hash browns, or leftover cooked potatoes, diced
  • Eggs
  • Chopped tomatoes and green onions, if you like
  • Shredded cheese, any kind.

1. Lay Sausages or Canadian Bacon on double layered foil. Being on the bottom will help the meet properly cook while in the coals or on the grill.

2.In the same tinfoil, add a handful of Frozen Hash Browns or diced potatoes, 1-2 eggs, and any vegetables you may want. Cook for 15-20 Minutes.

3. Add shredded cheese to your meal and place back on heat for a couple of minute until the cheese has melted. Once cheese has melted, remove from heat.

Well thank you for stopping by! I will try to let you guys know exactly how these went for me. Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July,
